On Oct. 5th the girls participated in the annual pentathlon, which is the orange vs. brown meet held at Cooper pool. The pentathlon consists of 5 events that everyone takes part in, a 100 of each stroke and a 200 I.M. Despite widespread sickness among the team, the girls did an awesome job at this opportunity to get up and race. Senior and team captain Meg Richardson broke the pentathlon record in the 100 free with a time of 52.84. Also breaking the record in the event and finishing second was freshman Emily Bennet with a time of 53.25. The freshman class also had a very strong showing in the 100 backstroke, with all top three finishes going to their class. Emily Bennet finished first with 1:00.41, Jamie Akenberger came in second with 1:00.71, and Alexa Harris finished third with 1:01.63. Overall the brown team was victorious. Nice job ladies!
Next up for the Falcons is the Tom Stubbs Relay Meet on Friday, Oct 16th. Go Falcons!

Homecoming Weekend
Oct 2nd marked the beginning of Homecoming weekend here at BGSU. Not only did we have three great recruits here visiting us, but many of our swim and dive alumni were able to make the trip back to visit as well! In addition to catching up with old friends and teammates, the alumni and current swimmers participated in the traditional alumni meet. The alumni meet consists of various relays, such as the 100 yd free (everyone does a 25) and the 100 yd t-shirt relay, where everyone must swim with a t-shirt on. Unfortunately we didn’t win the football game, but it was great to see old friends and spend time with possible new teammates. Here is a picture of some of our former Falcons tailgating at the football game.
8th Annual Falcon Biathlon
On Sept. 26th the Lady Falcons participated in the 8th Annual Falcon Biathlon. The biathlon, which marks the end of the running training period for the girls, consists of a 2000 yd swim followed by a 5k run. The girls did great! Individually, finishing the swim first in a time of 23:04 were Meg Richardson and Emily Bennet. Jen Beatty had the fastest run with a time of 22:30. All three top-finishing teams broke the previous team records set in years past. The first place time with a time of 1:39.08 was Katie Womack and Emily Bennet. Second place was Jen Beatty and Marie Pope with 1:39.33, and third went to Sarah Burston and Andrea Brown with a time of 1:41.03. Great job ladies!
This same weekend we also had nine recruits here to visit! They were all great and the girls had so much fun hanging out with them and getting to know them!
